Tennis Avenue Academy
This is a friendly ambitious coaching academy run by Hareen Wasantha, Ilge Alpay and Kieran Macarty, who aspire to create top-class junior tennis players. They offer comprehensive full-time tennis & education programmes, led by professional lawn tennis coaches.
They describe the academy as focused on driving progress through quality coaching. They say they do their best to keep their fees as low as possible.
“We believe it is the quality of coaching that is important, not the quality of the facilities. We offer no frills or luxuries, and by keeping our own costs down, we are able to charge much lower fees. Our players train mostly outdoors in all weathers (though we are likely to install a simple “bubble” for next winter at our New Malden academy), which makes our players tougher and instils in them a “can do -no excuses” mentality. Our coaching is second to none and a minimum requirement for all coaches, even those who work with our youngest players, is to have competed at top national standard.”
They list their achievements:
- Longines Future Aces (Roland Garros 2015) finalist
- 6 x GB representatives
- 4 x Tennis Europe winning players
- 9 x Tennis Europe titles (5 singles, 4 doubles); 3 x runners-up (singles)
- 19 x national (grades 1-2) titles
- 13 x International (other) titles
- 9x national top 5 Players
- Further 3 x top 10 players
